Project and system documentation is essential in the management and maintenance of a
telecommunications system and network. Complete documentation and diagram support provides the client with a tool available to them for better control internally and with the vendor
community. We provide clients with such aids as:
- Network configuration diagrams,
- Floor layouts,
- Device connectivity diagrams,
- Horizontal and vertical wiring configuration layouts.
Upper management can relate better to a picture/CAD drawing than a full
description. A technician having a specific set of pinning assignments has a much better chance of making fewer mistakes. Or what if employees leave. How was the
network configured? Or the system designed? Documentation can make a contribution here too.
We categorize and provide documentation support in three (3) major areas:
narrative, spreadsheet/database, and graphic.
- Narrative documentation supplies to the reader a full description of the
telecommunications hardware/network designed and installed. It describes the manufacturer used and the generic features provided by the system. It
also describes the features and design criteria used specifically for that facility in mind.
- Spreadsheet/database documentation provides the basis for specific
telephone set types, cable runs, jack types, cross-connect fields, and port assignments. It also may include the types of hardware used, dip switch
settings, software and releases installed, port assignments, and serial numbers.
- Graphic documentation shows the user in a graphic format specific
information. It could be a floor plan of an equipment room, or a 3-D perspective showing riser closets in a building, or a LAN installation.
